Master craftsman and wood artist Jacob Cress, who died May 19, was known for his classical and quirky furniture creations. His "Self-Portrait" chair depicts the artist actively building himself. Cress maintained a studio in Fincastle.

Mark Young, a fine artist based in Bonsack and a longtime friend of Jacob Cress, displays an oil painting featuring a 3D chair arm picking flowers. Young collaborated with Cress on the piece.
